}Parameters
atinteger | string- Where the edit starts (the playhead). Ignored when the sequence has In/Out marks: Premiere's three-point editing uses them. Timecode in the sequence's rate ("00:01:02:03") or ticks.
fit`speed` | `ignoreSourceIn` | `ignoreSourceOut` | `ignoreSequenceIn` | `ignoreSequenceOut`- Four-point edit whose source and sequence ranges differ (Premiere's Fit Clip dialog): "speed" changes the clip speed to fill the range (fit to fill); the others ignore one mark. Default: ignoreSourceOut, with a warning.
mediainteger | string (1..)Required- The source media. A media id or exact name.
patchesobject[]- Source patching: which source track goes to which sequence track.
patches[].enabledboolean- false switches the indicator off (Alt-click). Default true.
patches[].newTrackstring- Audio source tracks: the name of the track it goes to (multi-track recordings). Without "track" the edit adds an audio track with this name below the last one; an unnamed "track" is given the name. A recognised name sets the new track's role (Mic, Discord: dialogue; Music: music; Game, Alerts: effects).
patches[].sourcestringRequired- Source track: "V1" (the video), "A1", "A2", ... (audio streams).
patches[].trackstring | integer | null- Destination track ("V2", "A1", ...), or null for none.
sequenceinteger (1..)- Sequence id; only needed when the project has several.
sequenceMarksboolean- false places the edit at "at" even when the sequence has In/Out marks (a drag onto the timeline). Default true.
sourceIninteger | string | null- Source In: the first source frame. Default: the media's stored In mark, else its start; null for none. Ticks, or a timecode in the media's frame rate ("00:00:02:10").
sourceOutinteger | string | null- Source Out (exclusive). Default: the media's stored Out mark, else its end; null for none. Ticks, or a timecode in the media's frame rate ("00:00:02:10").
targets(string | integer (1..))[]- Tracks to target after the edit (Premiere's targeting column). Default: unchanged.
Discussion
Overwrite edit from the source (Premiere '.'), with three-point editing like edit.insertFromSource: replaces what is on the patched tracks; nothing moves. "fit": "speed" retimes the clip to fill the sequence In/Out exactly.
Run it with wabcut-cli cmd <project> --json, from an MCP client as edit_overwriteFromSource, or from an extension. See Edit commands for requests, references and results.
