Make captions
Generate captions from the transcript, style and animate them, translate them, and export them as files or burn them into the picture.
Captions in Wabcut come from the transcript, so a corrected word is a corrected caption. The caption workshop styles them, animates them word by word, translates them and shapes Thai correctly.
Generate captions#
Captions need a transcript first. See Edit by text.
- Open the "Captions" workspace (Alt+Shift+4), or the "Transcript" panel's "Captions" tab.
- Choose "Generate captions".
After you change the transcript, choose "Update from transcript" to bring the captions up to date.
Style and animate them#
In "Caption Style", pick a preset: "Clean", "Bold Box", "Podcast", "Shorts" or "Thai-friendly" (which uses a Thai font). Then adjust the font, size and colours.
"Animation" offers "Pop", "Fade" and "Word by word". To keep your own look, name it and choose "Save preset". The caption workshop also handles speakers and corrections, and Thai text shapes correctly.
Translate them#
Choose "Translate…" to make a caption track in another language. Translation runs on your computer, or with your own AI key. See Use AI.
Export them#
- As files: "SRT" and "VTT".
- With the video: in the "Export" tab's "Settings", set "Captions" to "Burn in" (part of the picture), "SRT file" or "VTT file". See Export a video.
